When to Bring Us In

Critical transformation decisions benefit from experienced, independent guidance.

Strategic WFM Consulting supports organizations at key points in their transformation journey, from defining the initial vision and evaluating the investment to selecting technology, establishing the program, and strengthening delivery already underway.

Clients typically engage us when they need to:

Define the Vision and Goals

Establish a clear transformation vision, business objectives, guiding principles, scope, and measures of success before moving into planning or implementation.

Assess the Current Environment

Evaluate existing workforce processes, policies, technology, organizational capabilities, and readiness for change to identify gaps and determine what needs to improve.

Identify AI and Automation Opportunities

Assess business processes, customer and employee journeys, and operational pain points to determine where AI and automation can improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, strengthen decision-making, and enhance service delivery.

Build a Feasible Transformation Roadmap

Translate the organization's vision and assessment findings into a realistic plan that defines priorities, phases, dependencies, resource requirements, risks, timing, and measures of success.

Develop the Business Case

Determine whether investment in new technology is justified by identifying improvement opportunities, estimating costs and benefits, quantifying ROI, and developing an executive-ready case for investment.

Select the Right Technology and Partner

Determine which WFM/HCM platform best meets the organization's operational, technical, and strategic requirements, and evaluate the implementation partner and delivery approach best equipped to achieve the desired outcomes.

Establish the Program for Success

Develop the project charter, governance structure, decision-making model, roles, accountabilities, and delivery approach required to move successfully from strategy into execution.

Strengthen Governance and Delivery

Address unclear ownership, slow decision-making, stakeholder misalignment, ineffective governance, or concerns with delivery-partner performance in a transformation already underway.

Reassess a Program at Risk

Provide an independent assessment when leaders have concerns about scope, direction, progress, risk, organizational readiness, adoption, or the program's ability to achieve its expected value.

WFM & HCM Advisory Services

Full-lifecycle advisory for workforce transformation.

Engagements are tailored to your organization's current needs, from an independent assessment or business case to executive leadership of a complex transformation. Every engagement is principal-led, giving clients direct access to senior experience throughout the work.

Workforce Strategy, Assessment & Transformation Roadmap

Assess the organization's current workforce processes, technology, policies, governance, operating model, organizational readiness, and employee and manager experience.

Define a future state that aligns people, processes, and technology with the organization's strategic and operational goals. Identify improvement opportunities, establish transformation priorities, quantify expected value, and build a practical multi-year roadmap.

The objective is not simply to replace a system. It is to determine how workforce operations should function in the future and what must change across the organization to make that future state successful.

Typical deliverables include:

  • Current-state people, process, and technology assessment
  • Workforce capability and maturity assessment
  • Future-state operating vision
  • Process standardization and improvement opportunities
  • Governance and operating model recommendations
  • Technology enablement strategy
  • Organizational readiness assessment
  • Transformation roadmap
  • Business case and ROI model
  • Adoption and value measures

Technology & Implementation Partner Selection

Translate business and operational needs into clear requirements and help select the right WFM/HCM technology and delivery partner.

Support includes:

  • Requirements definition
  • RFP development
  • Vendor and partner evaluation
  • Demonstration planning and facilitation
  • Scoring and comparative analysis
  • Scope and proposal review
  • Executive selection recommendations

The objective is not simply to select the strongest product, but to select the technology, partner, and delivery approach best suited to your organization.

Executive Engagement & Transformation Leadership

Provide senior-level leadership across the full business transformation, not only the technology implementation.

This role aligns business leaders, operations, HR, IT, payroll, labor relations, employees, and delivery partners around a shared future-state vision and a coordinated path to achieve it.

Focus areas include:

  • Executive governance and decision-making
  • People, process, and technology alignment
  • Business and technology integration
  • Future-state process ownership
  • Stakeholder alignment
  • Organizational readiness
  • Delivery-partner oversight
  • Program risk and dependency management
  • Change and adoption oversight
  • Operational transition and stabilization
  • Value realization

This role complements the project management function by ensuring that implementation decisions remain connected to the broader transformation objectives and intended business outcomes.

Program Health Check & Recovery

Independently assess a WFM/HCM program that is experiencing delays, unclear accountability, stakeholder misalignment, scope challenges, or delivery risk.

The assessment identifies root causes, immediate priorities, and practical corrective actions to stabilize delivery and restore executive confidence.

Adoption, Stabilization & Value Realization

Help the organization prepare for new processes, technology, roles, and ways of working.

Support the transition from implementation to sustained operations by focusing on:

  • Organizational readiness
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Leadership alignment
  • Change impact planning
  • Adoption and stabilization
  • Operational ownership
  • Performance measures
  • Benefit and value tracking

A successful implementation is not measured only by whether the system goes live, but by whether it improves how the organization operates.

AI & Automation Strategy

Identify where AI can create practical business value.

Many organizations understand the potential of AI but struggle to determine where to begin, which opportunities are realistic, and how to move from ideas to implementation.

Strategic WFM Consulting helps organizations identify, evaluate, and prioritize AI and automation opportunities based on business value, feasibility, data readiness, risk, and time to value.

The offering is especially relevant to workforce operations, shared services, consulting delivery, scheduling, timekeeping, labor optimization, and other process-intensive business functions. The same structured approach can also be applied to broader operational opportunities across an organization.

What the Engagement Includes

01

Business Priorities & AI Readiness

Understand the organization's strategy, operating model, business priorities, competitive environment, data maturity, technology landscape, and organizational readiness.

02

Process & Journey Assessment

Map key customer, employee, and business journeys to identify pain points, repetitive work, decision bottlenecks, service gaps, and operational inefficiencies.

03

AI & Automation Opportunity Discovery

Identify potential use cases across predictive AI, generative AI, agentic AI, workflow automation, and decision support.

Each opportunity is connected to a defined business problem and measurable outcome, not simply to the use of a new technology.

04

Opportunity Evaluation & Prioritization

Evaluate each opportunity based on:

  • Business value
  • Implementation feasibility
  • Data readiness
  • Investment requirements
  • Risk and governance
  • Change complexity
  • Time to value

The result is a prioritized portfolio that distinguishes quick wins from longer-term strategic capabilities.

05

Business Case Development

Define expected benefits, costs, dependencies, risks, and measures of success for priority opportunities.

Develop executive-ready business cases that support informed investment and sequencing decisions.

06

AI Transformation Roadmap

Create a phased implementation roadmap covering:

  • Priority use cases
  • Foundational capabilities
  • Data and technology dependencies
  • Governance and responsible AI
  • Organizational change
  • Required skills and ownership
  • Measures of success
  • Short-, medium-, and long-term initiatives
07

Executive Advisory & Implementation Oversight

Present findings and recommendations to leadership, support investment decisions, and provide ongoing governance as selected opportunities move from concept into implementation.

Our Approach

Transformation, not just implementation.

A new WFM or HCM platform may enable change, but technology alone does not deliver better business outcomes.

Strategic WFM Consulting approaches every engagement as a business transformation, aligning people, processes, and technology from the initial strategy and business case through implementation, adoption, and value realization.

  1. 01

    Assess and Align

Understand the organization's business priorities, current processes, technology environment, stakeholder needs, operational challenges, and readiness for change.

  2. 02

    Define the Future State

Establish how workforce operations should function in the future, including processes, policies, roles, decision rights, technology capabilities, and the employee and manager experience.

  3. 03

    Build the Case and Roadmap

Define what must change across people, processes, and technology; quantify the expected benefits; and create a practical, sequenced transformation roadmap.

  4. 04

Select the Right Technology and Partners

Choose the platform, implementation partner, scope, and delivery approach best aligned with the future-state vision and the organization's needs.

  5. 05

    Lead and Govern the Transformation

Create alignment across business, HR, IT, payroll, operations, labor relations, and delivery partners while maintaining clear governance, accountability, and executive decision-making.

  6. 06

    Drive Adoption and Organizational Readiness

Prepare leaders, managers, and employees for new processes, responsibilities, and ways of working through stakeholder engagement, change management, training, and readiness planning.

  7. 07

    Stabilize and Realize Value

Support the transition into operations, establish sustainable ownership, measure adoption and performance, and track results against the original business case.
